You’re not proactive.
You’re not adaptable to change.
These are direct quotes from an ex-boss.
On the contrary, I have overcome my fair share of difficult times. I have adapted to a myriad of changes in my life; two redundancies, the death of my grandparents, and an overall lifestyle overhaul that included ditching alcohol, becoming a vegetarian, going to the gym and running regularly.
I work hard. I make plans. I look to the future and work out how those plans will come to fruition.
I am proactive.
I am adaptable to change.
More importantly, I am who I want to be.
However, I was in danger of losing myself for a while, because for too long I believed what she said about me. The negative comments were incessant. I agonised daily, churning over what I could have done wrong.
Why did she dislike me so much?
What was wrong with me?
I escaped that toxic environment.
With hindsight, I recognise I was stuck in a culture of bullying that sadly will continue with other people. Now, I’m on a mission to choose my words wisely to help others believe in themselves because when you have belief, anything is possible.
Have you ever had someone tell you who you are?
You’re too much of this.
You’re not enough of that.
You’ll never do it.
Don’t believe it.
Someone else’s opinion of you should not become your opinion of you.
Get to know yourself, trust yourself, BELIEVE in yourself.
Be brave.
Be your own champion.
Be yourself.
You deserve it.
You deserve you!
